Aim of the Project
Project RAKHIVA, conducted on 22nd August 2021, beautifully captured the spirit of Raksha Bandhan by honoring the real-life heroes of our community—police officers, security guards, street workers, and vendors. The initiative aimed to recognize their sacrifices, foster morale, and promote gratitude, unity, and social awareness among citizens.
What We Achieved
Spearheaded by Project Head Srija Chakraborty and approved by Mr. Sayantan Chakraborty, this heartfelt event brought together volunteers from the Rigel Foundation and community members across Madhyamgram and its surrounding areas. Though there was no formal budget or large-scale donations, the event was sustained through internal volunteer contributions and small community offerings, ultimately summing up to ₹1560 in voluntary gifts.
Event Highlights:
- Rakhi Tying Ceremony held at police stations and local hubs.
- Engagement with frontline workers, including vegetable vendors, street security, and sanitation staff.
- Gifting of Coffee Mugs as tokens of appreciation.
- Distribution of Sweets (Laddoos) to celebrate the tradition and sweeten the moment.
Despite facing a temporary volunteer crisis on the morning of the event, the dedication and seamless cooperation with local police officers ensured smooth execution. The 3-hour event started at 10 AM and evolved into one of the most emotionally fulfilling projects the foundation has undertaken.
