PROJECT AIM
HASI is one of the flagship initiatives of the Rigel Foundation. The core aim is to serve at least one square meal of healthy and nutritious food to the underprivileged who struggle daily to afford even basic sustenance. Food is a basic human right, and through this event, the team strives to quench hunger and spread smiles among the needy.
PROJECT SUMMARY
The second edition of HASI was conducted successfully on November 10, 2023. After facing numerous challenges in the first edition — including vendor fraud, food spoilage, and lack of planning — the project team implemented improved strategies to ensure the event’s smooth execution.
🍱 Food Preparation & Distribution:
- Each food packet consisted of Khichuri, Aloo Dam, and a Ladoo in a 1000ml container.
- Estimated count: 800 packets.
- Preparation was managed by the parents of Project Head Debajyoti Manna.
- Packing and logistics were executed by the project team.
👥 Team Division:
- Team 1: 7 members, led by Mr. Suraj Kr. Midya
- Team 2: 10 members, led by Mr. Suvaiyu Saha & Mr. Debajyoti Manna
💸 Donations & Outreach:
- Each food packet was priced at ₹50 for donors.
- Donation campaign started on October 20, 2023, driven by social media efforts led by Debajyoti Manna.
- Custom labels with donor names were stuck on the food packets — a creative strategy that boosted visibility and engagement.
- The event recorded the highest number of online transactions in Rigel Foundation’s history.
- Logistics was managed through Uber instead of a hired logistics partner.
🗺️ Event Execution:
- Barasat — Initial distribution
- Dakhineshwar — Mid-phase execution
- Sovabazar — Final round of distribution
All members returned home by 4:30 P.M. using public transportation.
CONCLUSION
HASI 2.0 proved to be a milestone event for the Rigel Foundation — not just in execution, but in community outreach, trust-building, and team performance.
Despite the hiccups, the event:
- Was executed without overshooting the budget
- Brought joy to hundreds of people
- Highlighted the impact of collective effort and planning
Above all, the smiles, blessings, and warmth received from those served reaffirmed the foundation’s core belief — that small acts of kindness can create immense waves of change.
